At present a major development is being completed in Pearse Stadium involving remedial drainage work and upgrade of the pitch. When completed this development will result in significant improvements of the playing surface.
At this stage it is likely that Pearse Stadium will remain closed for games until the Spring of 2015. This is to ensure that the new playing surface has time to “bed-down” and settle and that pitch maintenance programmes are completed.
In 2015 Pearse Stadium is expected to host a number of high profile Inter-County games including the Division 1 Hurling League games with Kilkenny and Clare and a number of games in the National Football League.
In addition, Pearse Stadium will host at least one Connacht Football Championship game in 2015 and, depending on the County Team’s progression, the 2015 Connacht Football Championship Final could be played at the venue also.
While Pearse Stadium remains closed to games the Galway Competitions Control Committee (C.C.C.) will determine the alternative and suitable venues for both the 2014 County Club Football and Hurling Championship Finals.
